I was asked to come along and help Young Cumbria at Aspatria Dreamscheme to create some street art. I’ve never actually done any spray painting before so was a little nervous but it was so much fun! We started by generating some ideas for the murals – elements such as a cat, poppies and a rainbow were to be incorporated into one piece so we had our work cut out for us!

Ian from Young Cumbria marked out the outlines of all the elements and it was our job to spray the layers of paint; less is definitely more! Below is a time lapse video of the finished piece.

A few children from Aspatria Dreamscheme came along and were absolutely amazing; they came up with so many awesome ideas! I was so inspired by their enthusiasm; I’m hoping to volunteer a bit more with the children there with more arty projects soon.
