This year has whizzed by in a flash. I don’t know about you, but I like to look back over the year and assess what’s happened and look at the next year to see how things could improve.
I WAS UP FOR AN AWARD
I loved being one of the finalists for the Enterprise Vision Awards (EVAs), especially as I was one of sixteen Cumbrian women in the finals. We had an absolute ball; the comradery and support we gave each other was amazing and I have made some beautiful friends. I might not have won, but I learned so much about my business and it gave me the chance to appreciate all that is good about my offering.
I WORKED WITH SOME AMAZING BRANDS
I’ve been honoured to work with some amazing businesses and charities this year. The list is pretty huge but massive thanks to each and every one of my clients – 2018 wouldn’t have been the same without you.
I FOUND MY GIRL TRIBE
I joined Inspire West Cumbria and Club Fierce this year and I’ve not regretted it. Inspire has been amazing for meeting local business women whose businesses are successful and diverse and a massive support for me. And what can I say about my Club Fierce ladies? Gemma Stowe, the founder of this online business club, has been such an inspiration to me and I am excited to embark upon a 3 month business masterclass with her in 2019. Each and every woman in these groups is an inspiration.
I MOVED HOME
On a personal level, this year was pretty special in that we moved to our forever home. My little girl started school in September and it’s brilliant to live in walking distance of her school!
I’VE WORKED WITH SOME AMAZING DESIGNERS
Massive shout of to Sarah Cowan from One Owl Please who has been an incredible support to my business. Nothing is too much trouble for her and she’s been a massive help when I’ve been given a job which is too large for me alone, or if I don’t have the right skill set. Sarah is an amazing illustrator and it looks as though we’ll be working together even more in 2019! Yay! I’ve also continued working with my website developer Sean who’s been incredible – he never fails to deliver fantastic websites from my designs!
I WENT BACK TO SCHOOL
Back in May I was asked to go back to my old school to do some interviews with Year 10 students. It was really worthwhile as a couple of the students were interested in design and I felt like it was important to give something back to the school as I really enjoyed my time there. I’ve also recently been helping a university student with their graphic design course – I’m really enjoying helping her with some industry knowledge.
So, it’s been a busy old year! But 2019 is looking exciting already. But now, it’s time to enjoy Christmas!
