Pub owners Jo and Richard asked me to transform The Crown and Thistle’s tired branding into something timelessly future-proof and representative of the building’s fine border heritage.

The Crown and Thistle is a welcoming establishment, popular in the local community and reminiscent of the archetypal British country pub with roaring log fire, real ales and wholesome food.

The story of this pub played a pivotal role in the development of its branding. Jo and Richard wanted cosy branding with a modern twist, a flawless fusion for a traditional pub that has one eye on the future.

I created a stunning thistle illustration that curved into a delicate crown, portraying The Crown and Thistle as a modern pub that was respectful of its heritage.

To maximise impact, the branding was extended to business cards, menus, gift vouchers, and loyalty cards.
